Suspension Servicing – Recommended by most manufactures around 10’000 miles for road use. But for track use, I recommend yearly and more than twice a season for race use.
Fork service – £180
A fork service consists of a full strip down of the forks, if your unit includes valve shim stacks, they will be removed and inspected for bent/damaged shims and a modified shim stack. Any worn or fault components will at this point be discussed with the customer.
All fork components will then be cleaned thoroughly in the parts cleaner.
The fork will be reassembles using with new oil and dust seals, the only brands of seal used in my workshop will be genuine, showa, KYB or K-tech.
Motul oil is the standard oil used here, the correct viscosity will be used and the air gap set.
All setting will be recorded in a suspension booklet that will be returned with the unit for your records. If it has not been previously discussed the fork will be returned with the settings it arrived with.
Shock Service – £160
The shock will be stripped and inspected for wear and damage. Shim stacks will be removed and checked for damage and compared against standard stack for modification.
All parts will be thoroughly cleaned in the parts washer.
A service kit will be used (usually K-tech) to rebuild the sealing head, which will include the main seal, wiper seal, bush, o-ring and lock nut.
The unit will be rebuilt and bleed, Motul is the standard shock oil used in the workshop. The unit will be bleed manually or with a bleed machine, depending on the specific requirements of the unit.
The bladder or chamber will then be filled with nitrogen.
Most Common additional service items required-
Forks-
Slide bushes and guide bush(worn), shims (bent/damaged), stanchios (corroded/pitted/dented)
Shocks-
Rod (corroded/pitted), bush, bearing, eyelet (wear/play), bladder(tear/deform), Canister (wear), shims(bent/damaged)
Look at these extra items as you would chain and sprockets on a regular service. They are not required every time, but regular servicing will prelong the life of these parts. They are not required for every service, therfore are not held in stock at my workshop, this may result in the service time for your unit being longer.
